This week our Official Board approved a pilot program for one outside locker for use by someone experiencing housing instability. Under this one year pilot program, Peter, well-known to many in the Waterloo Uptown will be able to securely store his belongings in a small structure to be built in the southwest part of the property. This project is a real community effort, proceeding in partnership with The Working Centre and generously funded by the Christian Reform Church. As part of installing this locker, Chip Bender, Peter’s case worker from the Working Centre, will be meeting with our neighbours and some of our building tenants to inform them of this project as well as some hands on information in working with Peter. Data collected from this program will be used by the Working Centre as the entire Region moves to finding innovative and effective ways to support the marginalized in our community. If you have any questions regarding this program please contact Karen Dixon.
